Advancement

In order to advance at Chick-fil-A Newport, each Team Member must complete the requirements for the next step in their Journey.

Team Members will be trained to fill restaurant needs, and those who are motivated to advance more quickly have the opportunity to lead their own development through the completion of their Journey checklists.

New Hire    Team Member 1

Team Member Job Description

  • Demonstrate Core 4 & Familiarity w/ Chick-fil-A

  • Complete Onboarding (Paperwork & Orientation)

  • Complete Team Member 1 Training Checklist

    • 30-day Training Period as New Hire (minimum)

    • TM1 Quizzes/Practicals (see Team Page for more info)

  • 30-day Evaluation to advance to Team Member 1

Team Member 2

Team Member Job Description

  • Complete Team Member 2 Training Checklist

    • 30 days minimum as Team Member 1

    • TM2 Quizzes/Practicals (see Team Page for more info)

  • Evaluation to advance to Team Member 2

Certified Trainer

Certified Trainer Job Description

  • Complete Certified Trainer Journey Requirements

    • Complete Certified Trainer Certification Class
    • Complete 'Food Safety for Leaders' Training Course
    • Successfully lead 3 or more New Hires through the training process

    • Certified Trainer Quizzes (see Team Page for more info)

  • Evaluation to advance to Certified Trainer

Team Leader

Team Leader Job Description

  • 6 months total CFA tenure, including 2 months minimum as Certified Trainer

  • Available 24 hours per week, 3 days per week, open or close required

  1. Complete Team Leader Journey Requirements

    • Read & Report:

      • ‘The Secret’ by Ken Blanchard/Mark Miller

      • ‘360° Leader’ by John C. Maxwell

    • Team Leader Demos & Quizzes (see Team Page for more info)

    • Obtain ServSafe & NKY Health Department Food Manager Certifications

    • Attend Sexual Harassment/Diversity Training

  2. Complete Expression of Interest

  3. Personality/Behavioral Self-Analysis

  4. Evaluation to advance to Team Leader

Manager

Manager Job Description

  • 1.5 years total CFA tenure, including 1 year as Team Leader

  • Availability Requirements:

    • 32+ hours per week, 4 days per week, open or close required

    • 100% Operational, administrative duties assigned as necessary

  1. Complete Manager Journey Requirements

    • Read & Report:

      • 'Integrity' by Dr. Henry Cloud

      • 'Emotional Intelligence for the Modern Leader' by Christopher Connors

    • Complete 5 Team Member Evaluations

    • Attend Cultural Intelligence Class

  2. Complete Expression of Interest

  3. Personality/Behavioral Self-Analysis + Peer Review

  4. Evaluation & Interview w/ Director and Executive Director

Director Job Description

  • 3 years total CFA tenure, including 1 year as Manager

  • Availability Requirements: 

    • 45+ hours per week, Mon-Sat

    • 50-75%+ Operational, depending on role and business needs

  1. Complete Manager Journey Requirements

    • Read & Report:

      • 'The Advantage' by Patrick Lencioni

      • 'The Power of Moments' by Chip & Dan Heath

      • 'The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team' by Patrick Lencioni

    • Participate in 5 Hiring Sessions

    • Complete 5 Team Leader Evaluations

  2. Complete Expression of Interest

  3. Personality/Behavioral Self-Analysis + Peer Review

  4. Evaluation & Interview w/ Executive Leadership Team

Executive Director

Executive Director Job Description

  • Internal Candidate Requirements

    • Tenure of 2 years minimum as Director at Chick-fil-A Newport

    • Position must be available (actively hiring)

  • External Candidate Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

    • 5+ years of experience managing a team of 50+ employees

    • Must complete all leadership Journey requirements as part of training

  • Availability Requirements:

    • 45+ hours per week, Mon-Sat
    • 0% Operational, depending on role and business needs

  1. Complete Expression of Interest

  2. Read & Discussion w/ ELT on additional books or resources as required

  3. SWOT Analysis & Presentation to ELT

  4. Interview w/ Operator and Executive Leadership Team​​
